Atlanta
What a nice week we had in Atlanta! Clay and Karen watched Andrew, my parents watched Avery and Tesha (a dear sister in our ward) stay at our house with Alex and Aiden. Aiden also was watched by a number of sisters in our ward with children his age. We left about 7am on Monday morning for a 5hr+ drive to Idaho Falls to drop off a couple kiddos. It was a quick trip despite 4!! potty breaks. Why we can't all decide to use the restroom at the same time is a mystery. We dropped off both boys at he Jensen's and headed for lunch and the airport. I had forgotten how small the IF airport is. We were waiting for our plane in just a couple minutes. No problems with our plane ride down to SLC but the plane in SLC was delayed for about 2hrs due to unexpected maintenance. We ended up getting to our hotel in Atlanta around 3am EST. Thank goodness John didn't have meetings the next day. We decided to hit Coca-Cola World the next day. It was interesting. John got in free with his military ID (nice!). We were able to see a TON of Coca-Cola memorabilia and watch a couple of weird movies. If you do go there someday and watch the movies, sit slightly forward.... At the end of the self-guided tour, there is a tasting room to try any of the Coca-Cola beverages from around the world. My least favorite was by far the beverage named Beverly from Italy. It tasted like liquid aspirin. Blech. We tried a lot of beverages (just a sip) and got really full. John got a cup of his beloved coke zero and couldn't finish it. We did get a shirt for each of us. Mine smells like Sprite and he can wear his under his BDUs. Hehe Other highlights from our week were the botanical gardens. They were beautiful. The tulips, daffodils, and other bulbs were up along with a few early perrenials. It was so nice to see green plants and trees and flowers! We also liked Piedmont Park just below the gardens. It was a large well laid out park with all sorts of trails to wander about on. We did learn the hard way that there were no open bathrooms after 6pm. That's one way to get people to leave on time. CJ's meetings went pretty well. He had mercurial feelings about his Saturday meetings. The first lecture was so interesting to him, he decided to use it for a presentation on base. The afternoon meeting he almost walked out on. He was so disgusted with this dentists practices. I am so glad he feels confident enough to spot mistakes in dental work and have his own opinions (and be able to put them into practice). It's different than when he just got out of dental school and was not so sure about himself. During our trip, I enjoyed taking naps!! I also did a lot of enjoyment reading. Both were such a nice break for me. There were a couple trips to a book store and a Target near by had pants that didn't fall down. I am so happy about that one. The way home was about the same as the way there. I made a mistake when booking the trip and our flight from Atlanta to SLC left at 6pm (not 6am like I had thought). We looked at a line going around the aquarium for half a block and decided we were Atlanta'd out and heading for the airport about 5hrs early. We figured we'd read a little, take a nap and grab lunch there. Our flight was delayed for 2hrs due to weather (really severe thunderstorms). By the time we left there, ALL people with connecting flights had missed them. Delta was nice and gave us vouchers for a hotel room and some money for food. The next day the line through the metal dectectors was seriously long. We finally got into IF around 12:30ish and took girl we met up to Ricks (her flight from San Franciso was also delayed). We were home at 7pm. During our week in the south, the littlest one (in tummy) decided to turn vertical and sunny-side up. My ribs are now getting pounded and I know what a balloon feels like. It's amazing how you can forget the details of feeling miserable. I still remember L&D though!
