Utah vacation

Yah...forgot the camera...

This past week, we took the week off and headed to Idaho and Utah. John had a dental convention in Salt Lake City and we wanted to see some of our friends we left down there. It was really enjoyable. We stayed in Idaho for a couple days to break up the trip, see parents and Grandma and make a few cradle sheets.

The first day of John's conference, the kids and I ran a few errands, picked up some snacks and enjoyed some time at Barnes and Noble. We were originally going to hit the zoo but ALL of us were tired and cranky soooo back to the hotel for a nap. Three out of four of us got a little sleep and were much happier that evening.

The second day, we did hit Hogel Zoo. The Friel family and Aunt Penny met up with us there. It was so much fun to see them and wander around. There is some construction going on in part of the zoo so we missed a few exhibits. None of the kids seemed to mind. I think most if not all of us got our first sunburn of the year. Parker and Macie cracked me up. Jana, Rob, your kids are adorable.

We played at a park near our old house on Saturday before heading to Idaho. All the kids got the chance to see and play with some if not all of their old friends. I got to sit down with a dear friend there too and chat for a couple hours.

When we got to the Peterson's for an over-nighter, we found the power out. The water won't work without power so we called the power company. They didn't know the power was out. We ended up heading up the road to Grandma's. It was good to visit with her. Thanks a million Grandma!

The ride home wasn't quite as smooth as the ride down. The kids were done with driving before we were at our destination. We did finally make it though and the weather was great up here! The kids were able to play outside for a bit while John vacuumed the car and I unpacked. It's supposed to be above freezing for the next few days (keeps fingers crossed).

Last highlight was John buying a new car. His little green machine hasn't done so well after it ran into a deer this past year. John doesn't feel safe driving it and we're NOT turning it over to a teenager if an adult doesn't feel safe in it. It'll probably have to be sold for parts since I can't see a panel anywhere on the outside w/out some damage. Hehehe At any rate, he test drove a 2011 Acura TL and really liked it. We got a super deal on it since the dealer was trying to clear out old inventory to make way for the 2012 cars. It is being delivered. The dealership said about a week, John feels like it'll be after we're back from Georgia. I really chuckled watching John test drive this car, he had tons of fun.

I am super excited that Grandma and Aunt Penny are heading out to DC. There is soooo much to see there. Maybe you two can remember to take pictures better than I can. Have fun no matter what.
